The Forest Products Laboratory of the Brazilian Forest Service (LPF-SFB), in partnership with the Laboratory of Automation, Chemometrics and Environmental Chemistry of the University of Brasília (AQQUA - UnB), through the Bioamazônia project financed by OTCA, makes available through the SPECTRAL DATABASE the near infrared spectra of protected wood given by CITES, MMA and other environmental organizations. We hope that this data can be used mainly to strengthen and expand research and development of methods related to the use of spectroscopy in the near-infrared for the identification of illegal wood and its geographical origin. The spectral acquisition and organization followed strict protocols (detailed in each file), the origin and sample identification were determined in reference collections globally or by anatomical analysis made by highly-trained specialists. However, the LPF-SFB and AQQUA clarify to users that the use of the data and its application depends on the procedures that will be used for the analysis (e.g., type of pre-processing or chemometric model and the way that these procedures were applied in the data), therefore, not being responsible for any results that may be sought and for its application. We also emphasize that practical applications of these spectral data must consider transfer or standardization procedures due to the differences between the spectrometers used.
